OLDER OR YOUNGER CHILD?

Older children are those who will attain the age of 4 between 1st September and 31st August in the relevant school year and who will be starting school the following September.

Younger children are those who will attain the age of 3 between 1st September and 31st August in the relevant school year and who will be starting school the September after the following September.

For example, in the school year 2010/11, a child who is 4 on 31st October is an older child who will be starting school in September 2011.

In the school year 2010/11, a child who is 3 on 31st October is a younger child who will be starting school in September 2012.

LOCAL AUTHORITY FUNDING

All older children who attend three or more sessions per week receive funding subject to a maximum of five sessions per week.

Younger children who attend three or more sessions per week receive funding in the term after they attain the age of three. Again this funding is subject to a maximum of five sessions per week.

FEES

Each autumn the playgroup committee determines the session fees for the coming calendar year.

The session fee for non-funded children is currently £5-80 (January 2010).

Unfortunately the local authority funding does not cover all of the playgroup's running costs. A nominal session fee is therefore also charged for funded children in order to help us to provide a high standard of childcare. The session fee for funded children is currently £1.10 (January 2010).

Additional fees may also apply to special trips, parties etc.

Unless circumstances dictate, these fee are not due to be reviewed again until the autumn of 2010.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE

Parents are responsible for their children until they come into the playroom.

It is very, very important that you advise us if your child is going to be collected by anyone other than the usual person.

Please keep older children away from the door at 3.30pm as it is very intimidating for the playgroup children to walk through a throng and very easy for them to lose their way.

Playgroup children will only be handed over to an adult.
